Beautiful, peaceful, eco-friendly and perfect!

Kai is magical! I’ve traveled to the area many times, and it’s by far and away from the best place I’ve found in Tulum. The villas are beautifully designed to let in natural light, with every amenity perfectly thought of – freshwater in the room, water buckets regularly refilled outside your patio for sand, an indoor and outdoor shower.

Better still, it’s clear how much care they’ve taken to cut down on power usage and water, which is incredibly important to protect the natural environment in the area.

The restaurants both had delicious food, and the wait staff (especially at the beach) were so warm and kind. We loved waking up every morning and watching the fishermen take out their boats, and you can very quickly catch a ride out to snorkel or take a look at the ruins anytime you like. It only takes about 10 minutes to walk to the archaeological site from the hotel, which was a nice perk.

People complaining about seaweed have not done their homework on the area – it’s a constant. If you want a giant beach, stay in Cancun. If you’re going to explore a beautiful jungle and swim in gorgeous lagoons and cenotes, Tulum is the place for you.

Splurging for the oceanfront villa felt worth it – we felt no need to walk down to the beach since the view was perfect. I would recommend Kai for any couple or solo traveler looking for a quiet, eco-friendly experience in a lovely villa on a quiet beach away (but not far) from the “see and be seen” part of Tulum.

I loved staying at Kai. It’s right at the beach, the rooms are outstanding, and the staff is awesome with their cozumel water jet board suggestions. It is quite far away from the significant hotel zone but still has good restaurants around, and it is relaxing and quiet at night and day.

The restaurant has delicious food and waiters are excellent. The only improvement I recommend is that the hotel needs to pick up the phone, as it is hard to find the place. Tip: tell the taxi to take you to Villa Pescadores, as they share the reception. One other note: the front desk staff is not very warm or welcoming that would be another improvement. Otherwise, the place is excellent.
